The showcase - PROS and CONS (January 2015)

From the previous showcase, we have written down what we thought was our main strengths for the showcase. One of them being was the fact that we was the mood and energy in the finale, being supportive of each other as a class, being energetic in "Revolting Children" and we managed to stay in character at all times during the showcase which goes to show a sign that we managed to make the show successful, and this is through the amount of time we spent during rehearsals.
However, despite the strengths, there were many weaknesses in which there were many downfalls to the showcase. An example is the timing was a major issue as there we many people going either fast or slow on "Radio Gaga" and in "Masquerade" there were people going to their positions fast. In addition to this, there were many people not taking responsibility to their roles and other people seem to respect other people when they were given roles.
Although, there were strengths and failures in the showcase there is still room for the class to improve. As a class, we need to put more energy in rehersals, be more organised, be positive, and rehearse your lyrics to make sure the for the next showcase, we know our past mistake and prevent it from happening.

Domestic Abuse (Complicite)

This domestic complicite is part for our showcase we are performing for the Barbican Theatre. The people in our group for the performance is me, Sonia, Marta, Daria and Courtney. The abuser is me and the victim is Sonia; the story-line sees the beginning where I'am meeting Sonia along with her friends. Some of her friends believe the lover to be a good boyfriend, while the other believes that he she should not trust him. The abuse comes to the end where it is playful but really it is abuse, and the victim states that everything is okay by pushing away her friends.

For the scene, in order to get an idea on what the domestic reality is actually like, this had required me to do a lot of research and watch videos of women who suffer on the hands of domestic abuse and how they cope with the undeserved treatment they have to contain. Also, performance wise, the videos that I have been watching had given me a lot of ideas on how we could play the scene.

Some parts of the play we had formed as a group to make the performance. The performance also has items that would flow with the storyline and would make a perfect combination. For this domestic scene, the performance requires everything to be silent and there is a rhythm to where we are going for each part.

Masquerade dance

This dance was a past performance on Masquerade. This dance is our own as we had formed together this dance as our own idea for the past showcase. This dance also includes us singing while we are dancing. Dominique had formed this idea; first the dance as a whole class, then the first group perform; then us; then the last group. Afterwards, the group must go with their partners to then dance, and form a formation to end the song and the dance.

Bring on tomorrow

Deneille
We have arrived at a moment in our lives
When the future passes into out hands

Isabel
We can find out, are we really strong enough
To fulfill what the future demands

Rafa
We can stand on the edge
And look out into space
And be awed
By the wonders we see

Rafa, Courtney, Ada
We can all make a pledge
That the whole human race
Will become what we want it to be

Everyone
Bring on tomorrow
Let it shine
Like the sun coming up on a beautiful day
It's yours and mine

We can make a difference
It's not too late
Bring on tomorrow
We can't wait

Anne
Long, long ago in a world we never made
We were children who were making believe

Asher

Closing our eyes
We were travelers in air
To a land we would not want to leave

Daria
But the fairy tale land, fades away as we grow
And we all have to say our goodbyes

Rafa, Viktorija, Cagla, Daria
And we now understand, that this world that we know
Can be ours if we open our eyes

Everyone
Bring on tomorrow
Let it shine
Like the sun coming up on a beautiful day
It's yours and mine

We can make a difference
It's not too late
Bring on tomorrow
We can't wait

Bring on tomorrow
We can't wait
Bring on tomorrow
It's not too late

Bring on tomorrow
We can't wait
Bring on tomorrow
We can't wait

Bring on tomorrow
Let it shine
Like the sun coming up on a beautiful day
It's yours and mine

We can make a difference
It's not too late
Bring on tomorrow
We can't wait

Bring on tomorrow
We can't wait
