Following the May 2015 showcase for Yr 1 Musical Theatre students, I thought it was an average performance, although the showcase had it's shortcomings so the evaluation that this is written by me is showing the musical number that I have appeared in and the opinions of how each number had worked out.
Musical number appearance for Rafa.
Chicago - "All that Jazz"
Fame - "Bring on tomorrow"
Bugsy Malone - "So you wanna be a boxer"
SIster Act - "Raise your voice"
"All that jazz"
The song, alongside the dance was formed in a triangle, pyramid shape for the dance and song. Nancy is the only person in the song who sings the first part of the solo, and then the class sings the rest of the song as a whole. I thought the dance and song was in time with everything else.
"Bring on tomorrow"
One of my favourite song had its pros and cons. The cons of it being that one parts of the song was sung by mistake. However, despite the downfall, the song I believed had some good notes to which I thought it was a good piece, although next time there will be room for improvement.
"So you wanna be a boxer"
During the part of my solo "So you wanna be a boxer", the song had its downfall. The beginning part of my solo was a good start until it came to a point where I started to notice the sound had went off in the tech room. Despite the sound coming off, I still carried on with my solo because I would not want the audience to see the song's downfall, and Sean used the piano to carry on my solo. Due to technical difficulties, the song had to be put on hold much to the frustration of the other people of the audience.
However, once the tech team managed to resolve the issue, the solo still carried on with me and the class singing the parts. Although frustrated with the tech team's shortcoming, I managed to perform the song well, but I thought the first round would have been much better if the there was no technical difficulties.
"Raise your voice"
Raise your voice is the showcase finale. This song personally is my favourite song to end the showcase. I thought that this song was very harmonious, and rhythmic. However, I also had my doubts that the song would have its downfall. The costumes that we had to wear for the song are black and white, with the appearance of an nun. This creation had required careful cutting with the production team. In conclusion to the song, I believed that the song came out an major success.
